Authorities in France say a database containing delicate data on 1.2 million financial institution accounts has been breached.
The Ministry of Financial system says an unauthorized entity gained entry to the nationwide FICOBA database of financial institution accounts final month.
“Upon detection of this incident, speedy entry restrictions have been applied to cease the assault, restrict the quantity of knowledge accessed and extracted from this database… Work is underway to revive service with optimum safety.”
The intruder impersonated a civil servant’s credentials and accessed data together with banking coordinates like RIB and IBAN, account holder identities addresses and tax identifiers.
